Once in the hands of the haute bourgeoisie, namely the Manufacturing family Merkel, the last member of the dynasty, Karl-Heinz Merkel, had to declare insolvency in 1990. Shortly before the forced sale, we had the chance to purchase the Villa including 4 hectares of vineyards. After many years of care and renovation measures the Villa was used for eventy and sparkling wine tastings. Since opening our Vinothek in 2015 it is mainly used for private purposes, besides some exceptions.
